ROY ROSENBERGER

September 27, 1935 – February 1, 2021, 85 years old. Roy was born in Roslyn, Pennsylvania to Dorothy (Spangler) and Roy Rosenberger and died at home in Appleton, Wisconsin after complications of a stroke suffered in December, 2020. He lived a long and colorful life full of love, travel and music. He graduated from Abington High School, in Abington Pennsylvania and from Penn State in 1958 (Phi Kappa Tau). He lived in Danbury, Connecticut, Wheaton, Illinois, and Edgewood, Kentucky and for the last 32 years found his home in Appleton, Wisconsin, becoming a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan. Roy gave generously throughout his life, including to his fraternity, Phi Kappa Tau, Penn State University, The Congregational United Church of Christ of Neenah/Menasha, and his community. Roy loved to laugh and drive fast, and preferred history and architecture over the beach.

 

Roy had a presence, standing over 6'3” tall, with dark hair, piercing blue eyes, an infectious smile and welcoming personality. He had a beautiful singing voice, garnering lead roles in musicals and performances throughout his life including Man of La Mancha, The Sound of Music and Carousel. He sang as part of the White Heron Chorale/NEW Voices in Appleton, and his church choir, his rich voice filling the room. He had a successful career in sales and spent years in the military reserves, rising to the rank of Captain. After a long career in the paper industry, he was an entrepreneur and owner of Verity, IA, developing software that determined the quality of printed paper, a business that afforded him the pleasure of traveling throughout Europe, especially Bavaria, and the world.  

Roy was predeceased by his wife, Charlanne Lentz Rosenberger (1936-2007), and is survived by many friends and family who loved him including his life partner of the last 13 years, Cheryl Humleker of Appleton, Wisconsin. He is also survived by his two children, Mark Rosenberger (Ann) of Rochester Hills, Michigan, and Dianna Rosenberger Thiel (Brian) of Palm Harbor, Florida and his beloved grandchildren, Brooke and Jacob Thiel of Palm Harbor, Florida. Survivors also include his sister, Dorothea Schoenstein (Alan) of McCloud, California and his nieces and nephews from California, Ian Barlett (Ceal) and Kim Crevoiserat (Don) and their children, along with his brother-in-law, Charles “Lucky” Lentz, III (Judy) of San Diego, and their children, Rick, Chuck, Karen, Don, Kirk and Lisa. Roy will be missed by his friends in the Neenah Mens' Club, his life-long buddies, many cousins and family members and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
