VALERIE JAMES

Valerie James, age 71, passed away Wednesday morning, March 24, 2021. Valerie was born in Appleton, WI on September 4, 1949, daughter of the late Rudolph Larson and Dorothy (Shultz) Larson. She was the wife of the late John James who passed away in 2012. She graduated from Appleton West High School in 1967 and retired from Community First Credit Union in 2014.

Val was a very outgoing person and easily connected with people. She loved spending time with family and friends. She met a great group of friends during her time at Briarwood Cottages and Greenwood Village Condos. She was a proud grandmother of eight grandchildren and one great grandson.  

Survivors include her sons: Patrick James of Menasha, Michael James of Kaukauna, Phillip (Pam) James of De Pere, and Peter (Erin) James of Kimberly; eight grandchildren: Tyler, Ethan, Emily, Kaylee, Madeline, Alex, Hannah and Jaxon; one great-grandson: Maxton; two brothers: Barry Larson of Appleton, Don (Laura) Larson of Ottumwa, Iowa; four sisters-in-law: Amy Larson, Mary (Brian) Blazer, Julie (Randy) Bootz, Susan Werner; two brothers-in-law: David James and Mark James. Val was preceded in death by her husband John James, her parents, her in-laws John James Sr. and Lorraine (Potter) James, and two brothers Gary Larson and Mark Larson.

We would like to thank the staff at Rennes and Renaissance in Appleton and Heartland Hospice for helping Val through the past couple of weeks.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Menasha's Westgor Funeral Home, 1140 Appleton Road. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until the hour of the service. For those not able to attend, the service will be livestreamed on the Westgor Funeral Home's Facebook page (link: https://www.facebook.com/WestgorFuneralHomes). The recording of the service will remain available indefinitely on the funeral home's Facebook page.
