JEAN SCHMIDT

Jean L. Schmidt, 95, passed away at home on Monday, April 12, 2021. She was born November 28, 1925 in Neenah, daughter of the late Earl and Lucille (Kosloske) Hill.

After graduating from Menasha High School, Jean answered her calling to care for others through her career as a nurse, serving several physicians in the Fox Valley. She was a proud alumna of the Bellin School of Nursing in Green Bay. 

Jean wed her soulmate, William Schmidt, on December 2, 1950. Their long marriage was full of love and adventure- raising a family, taking road trips to all 48 contiguous states and volunteering in the community. He preceded her in death on February 13, 2004.

Jean was a life-long member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Menasha.  She lived her life with unwavering dedication to her faith, her family and her community. Following retirement, she volunteered many, many hours at Theda Clark Medical Center.  Jean had many favorite stories to tell about her work as a nurse and volunteer, but her most beloved topic of conversation was her family. Her love for her son and his family knew no bounds. She loved hosting holiday gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren- who were her pride and joy.

Survivors include her son, Mark (Judy) Schmidt; three grandchildren: Patrick (Samantha) Schmidt, Adam Schmidt, Meghan Schmidt; and a sister-in-law, Joan Hill. 

Jean was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Hill.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 7, 2021, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 320 Nicolet Blvd., Menasha, with Fr. Bob Kollath officiating.  The visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of Mass.
