Obituary
Nick Hobert Proctor, age 81, passed away on January 8, 2023, at All Saints Memory Care in Madison, WI. He was born November 1, 1941, in Moscow, Idaho, the only child of the late Dutch and Cleo (Rothwell) Proctor.
Nick grew up and attended school in Palouse, Washington. He attended Washington State University, graduating in 1965 with a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree. He married Terry Whiting on June 27, 1964, in Okanogan, Washington. She preceded him in death on May 14, 2003.
He served in the United States Public Health Service at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD, from 1966 to 1968. He attended graduate school at the University of California San Francisco from 1968 to 1973 where he earned a Ph.D. in Comparative Pharmacology and Toxicology. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, Berkeley, in 1974. He was employed by Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation in Oakland, California, from 1974 to 1984. Nick co-authored Chemical Hazards of the Workplace first published in 1979 and currently in its 5th edition. He was then employed by Kimberly-Clark Corporation in the Product Safety Department starting in 1984; he retired in 2006.
Nick and Terry had two children who mourn his passing: Kenneth (Erin) Proctor and their daughter Jade of Madison and John (Anne) Proctor and their children, Paige and Nicholas, of Junction City.
He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Menasha, WI. Nick enjoyed a never-ending search for the best and sometimes fastest mode of terrestrial transportation. To all the special people in his life, Nick would want you to know that he loves you all and thanks you for a great ride.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 226 Washington Street, Menasha, WI, in Nick's memory. The family wishes to thank the staff at All Saints Memory Care of Madison and Agrace Hospice Care for their care and compassion in the last years of Nick's life.
