Obituary
Alois “Al/Butch” A. Schroeder, of Menasha, age 90, passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, April 29, 2021, at Emerald Ridge Assisted Living. He was born March 3, 1931, son of the late August and Anna (Hintz) Schroeder.
He married Elaine J. Schroeder on November 23, 1957. Al retired in 1994 from Menasha Corporation after 35 years. Al loved spending time with his family, watching sports, listening to polka music, playing cards, and his many years as a member of Bethel Lutheran Church. Ever the lover of birthday celebrations, Al recently enjoyed a 90th Covid birthday party with a few of his fellow residents and staff at Emerald Ridge.
Survivors include four children: Denise (Roy) Meier, David (Renee) Schroeder, Vicki (Jeff) Mai, Mark Schroeder; six grandchildren: Kati (Paul) Gosz, Joe Meier, Amber Schroeder, Nick (Angela) Schroeder, Miranda (Michael) Thoma, Justin Mai and girlfriend, Jenn Coldren; six great-grandchildren: Isabella, Miles, Kingston, Harlow, Coletta, and Madeline. Al is also survived by his beloved sister, Dorothy Labitzky and many nieces and nephews.
Al was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine; great-grandson, Jackson; sisters: Alverana Schroeder and Delores (Harold) Hartz; brothers: Wilmer (Arlane), Vernon (Arlene); sister in law, Rosie (Robert) Sauer; brother in law, Norman Labitzky.
A private, family funeral service will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church with internment at Oak Hill Cemetery officiated by Rev. Raasch.
The family extends its sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Emerald Ridge Assisted Living and Heartland Hospice for their compassionate and loving care.
Expressions of sympathy can be sent in care of Westgor Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for Bethel Lutheran Church.
