ALAN GENETT

Alan H. Genett, age 73 of Neenah, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend left us unexpectedly early Tuesday, April 20, 2021 to soar with the eagles. He was born November 16, 1947 to the late Forrest and Grace (LaSage) Genett in Neenah and made a home there with his family after marrying the love of his life Judith Grant on July 15, 1967. 

As a young man Alan enjoyed working on cars and drag racing.  He spent the majority of his career working as a carpenter and underwater welder for CR Meyer.  He enjoyed his job so much, that even after an unfortunate work accident, at the age of 40, left him without a leg, he went back to work with a prosthetic only eight weeks later. He was a true hero when it came to his disability, as it didn't hinder him from enjoying life at all. He took pride in his property and worked every year to refinish his log cabin home in segments. He enjoyed traveling, scuba diving, playing racquetball, antiquing, watching the Packers and drinking his Budweiser but most importantly being surrounded by his family.   

To know him was to love him. He had a huge heart and a gift for loving others. He was our angel on earth.

Alan is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judith; his daughters: Gina (Tony) Bednarowski, and Jolene (Blake) Sorensen; and by grandchildren: Kendall, Carson, Olivia, Alanna, Dylon, and step-grandchildren:  Ryan, Courtney, Haley and Evan. He is further survived by his siblings: Forrest (Karen) Genett; Sharon Rademaker; Grace Ann Fischer; Frederick (Debbe) Genett; Linda (Chuck) Wolf; and Dean (Wanda) Genett; as well as by his sister-in-law, Gloria (Bill) Kabke and brother-in-law Jack Land. Alan also had several nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. 

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Joyce and Shirley; by his brothers, Ed and Daryl; and by two nephews: Rod Genett and Nicholas Genett; as well as his brothers-in-law Roy Rademaker and Bill Fischer; and sisters-in-law Carol Olejnik and Helen Sherburn.

A Time of Remembrance for Alan will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of remembrance.
