PETER LEININGER

Peter Joe Leininger, age 84, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, May 23, 2021.  He was born June 30, 1936, in Oshkosh, son of the late Victor and Marge (Schneider) Leininger.  Growing up in Oshkosh, he attended St. Mary's parochial school, where he excelled in basketball and baseball.  Pete was also a cub scout and an alter boy for St. Mary Catholic Church.  He then graduated from Oshkosh High School. 

Pete worked at various jobs while growing up, then moved to Menasha, to work for Kimberly-Clark, where he was known as Peter J.  He worked various jobs within the company until retiring after 43 years of employment. 

Pete had quite a sense of humor and enjoyed talking to people and spending time with family and friends; especially talking on the phone with his great-grandchildren.  He enjoyed cutting his lawn and took much pride in having it look good.  Pete always had a love for cars and enjoyed going to car shows for many years.  He enjoyed a good Friday fish fry, watching NASCAR and football on tv and going to his grandkids sporting events years ago. 

Pete loved to shop for unique treasures and had many collections.  He and his long-time companion, Karla, enjoyed traveling to many places. Pete lived a long and good life, and he was able to stay in his own home, which was important to him.

Pete will be missed by his three daughters: Lori (Jeff) Bedner, Darci (Norm) French, Lisa (Mike) Schreiber; grandchildren: Erik (Lacey) Zuehlke, Aimee Wagner, Bradley Bremseth, Andy (Nikki) Birling, Matt Birling, Brent (Abigail) Schreiber, Alanna (Matt) Maigatter, Sam (Becky) Schreiber, Daniel Schreiber; great-grandchildren: Dayton, Dane and Dylan Zuehlke, Bryce and Reid Wagner, Ben and Kadie Birling, Nevaeh and Noah Birling, Sophia Schreiber, Meila Maigatter, Kylie and Savannah Schreiber.  Pete is further survived by his significant other, Karla Boncher; her children: Stephanie (Mike) Mauthe and their son Chase, Scott (Courtney) Boncher and their children: Ruby, Beck and Grey; his sister, Gail (Roger) Kimball, Oshkosh; brother-in-law, Dick Bahr, Oshkosh; and several nieces and nephews. 

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, a sister, Nancy Bahr; and other relatives. 

The visitation will be held from 10:00AM to 11:00AM on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at Menasha's Westgor Funeral Home.  A private service will follow with interment in Riverside Cemetery in Oshkosh.  In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established. 

The family would like to thank Pete's many Doctors: Dr. Nate Grunwald, Dr. Doug Mielke, and Dr. Michael Murphy, for all their wonderful care.
