CYNTHIA STOWE

Cynthia Jean Morey Stowe, 70, passed away on June 22, 2021 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, following a short but serious illness.

Cindy was born January 4, 1951 in Norway, Maine to her loving parents Edith (Keniston) and Ivan Morey. She loved growing up in rural Maine, spending her childhood either outdoors or with a book in her hands. Cindy had special relationships with her sisters, Susan (Morey) Stevens and Kathy (Morey Stailing) Hirsch. Her childhood was made particularly special when her parents established a campground, Littlefield Beaches. Cindy worked at the campground side-by-side with her parents and sisters, creating life-long friendships with the many campers who stayed there. She was also very active in her school and church, with a particular aptitude for music. Cindy played saxophone in the school band, sang in the school and church choirs, and played the organ.

After high school, Cindy received nursing degrees from the University of Maine and a masters in nursing from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. It was during college in November 1969 that Cindy met Bruce Stowe. They married May 19, 1973 and were married for 48 wonderful years. Early in their marriage, they moved to Neenah, WI where they raised three daughters, Kristen, Sharon, and Kendra. While they weren't expecting to stay in Wisconsin initially, Cindy fell in love with the many, many friends she made here. Cindy was very active at First United Methodist Church of Neenah, including directing both the adult and children's choirs, sitting on numerous committees, and participating in the women's group. In later years, she led fellowship trips to Lithuania to share faith and friendship with their Methodist Church. In retirement, Cindy traveled the world with Bruce, saying she “never thought we'd see the world like we did,” including amazing places like the Galapagos Islands, the Taj Mahal, the Pyramids of Egypt, and the Great Wall of China. In her travels, Cindy enjoyed meeting both new traveling companions and the local people. Cindy was an avid reader throughout her life, reading about the places she traveled and devouring historical fiction. She was also a talented flower gardener and bird lover. She had amazing skills at getting orioles and hummingbirds to nest at her house, even after moving. Cindy's retirement was also filled with spending as much time as possible with her beloved grandchildren, Zach, Katelyn, Kenna, Max, and Wesley. She had limitless love for each of them.

Cindy is survived by her loving husband, Bruce; daughters: Kristen (Brad) Koenigs; Sharon (Larson) Cook;

Kendra (Bryan) Atkinson; grandchildren: Zach Koenigs; Katelyn Koenigs; Kenna Cook; Max Atkinson; Wesley Atkinson; sisters: Sue (George) Stevens; Kathy (Dave) Hirsch; Auntie Jo Ham; nieces and nephews, in-laws, and countless cousins and friends all over the world. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edith (Keniston) Morey, Ivan C. Morey, and her brother-in-law Kenny Stailing.

A visitation will be held at Westgor Funeral Home in Neenah on Tuesday, June 29th at 9:30 am, with a funeral following at 11:00. For those unable to attend, Cindy's service will be livestreamed on Westgor's Facebook Page. A luncheon will be held following the service, at Smith Park in Menasha. We request that all attendees wear masks when indoors.
