Obituary
Antoinette V. “Toni” Daugherity, age 96, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Neenah, surrounded by her family. She was born February 25, 1925, in Kinney, MN, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Serrano) Pitulla.
Toni graduated from High School in Buhl, MN, with the class of 1944. She moved to Minneapolis to work and attend Business School and moved again to Washington, DC, in 1945, where she was employed by the Department of the Navy following WWII.
Toni then moved to Norfolk, VA, and was employed by Oceania Naval Base for several years. There, she met future husband Benjamin Daugherity at an F.W. Woolworth's lunch counter. They were married on April 12, 1958.
The family relocated to Neenah, Wisconsin, in 1970, after Ben requested a work transfer in order to be closer to Toni's loved ones. After retirement from AC Supply, Toni spent her time as a dedicated volunteer at Theda Clark Medical Center and Lakeview Elementary School, and as a Poll Worker. She was a 50+ year member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, a 40 year member of the Neenah/Menasha YMCA and sang for 20+ years with the Y Nots. Toni also enjoyed playing Dominoes and gardening, watching every Packer game in full dress and buying gifts for all the children in her life.
Survivors include her daughter, Tina (Dave) Schneider; a granddaughter, Lindsey Whitston; a great-granddaughter, Nemiah Whitston; and a sister, Josephine “Pepa” Arena.
Toni was preceded in death by her loving husband Ben on March 23, 1995, and a daughter, Theresa on March 7, 2008.
The family would like to extend special thanks to devoted friends and neighbors Janet and Glen Lashbrook and family, her loving Y Not family, her dear friend Bev Jurgensen and longtime friend Sheila Hackstock who was responsible for her trademark hairstyle.
The Memorial Mass will be held at 2:00 PM, on Friday, August 13, 2021, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 900 Geiger St, Neenah, with Fr. Seidl officiating. The visitation will be held at the church at 1:00 PM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial can be given to Neenah Animal Shelter.
