RONALD HANSETER

Ronald A. Hanseter, age 89, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, August 6, 2021. He was born on January 24, 1932 to the late Alois and Anna Hanseter and grew up in Oshkosh. Ron was a graduate of Oshkosh High School in 1950 and with higher education always a dream he earned the opportunity to attend Carrol College on a football scholarship, graduating in 1955. Ron went on to serve his country in the U.S. Marine Corps as a 1st Lieutenant. He married his college sweetheart, Karen Hill in 1955, and they were blessed with 66 years of marriage. Ron became the Operations and Facility Manager at American Can Co. / James River Corp before retiring.

Ron was a devoted family man who treasured the time spent with loved ones. He loved to travel and particularly enjoyed a family trip to Italy celebrating his 50th wedding anniversary. Ron was very personable, and many considered him their best friend. He had a soft spot for chocolate ice cream and was known affectionately as “Foofa” by his grandson. He was a diehard Packer and Badger fan and often talked about the time he attended the “Ice Bowl”. Ron loved all sports and family visits always included trips to the golf course with his sons and grandsons. He passionately supported St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Heckrodt Wetland Reserve, Best Friends of Neenah-Menasha, Lakeview School PTA, Suburban Athletics, and the Menasha Dance Club.

Ron is survived by his wife Karen Hanseter, children Mike (Jean) Hanseter, Lisa Hanseter and Marc (Margaret) Hanseter, grandchildren Christine (Daniel) Stitt, David Hanseter, Alex Green, and Aron Hanseter, great-granddaughter Violet Stitt, siblings Russell Hanseter, Susan (Bob) Doemel, Gloria (Tom) Robl, Patty Micka, and brother-in-law Bob Kelly. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Gilbert Hanseter and Mary Jo Kelly, sister-in-law Donna Hanseter, and brother-in-law Sel Micka.

The funeral service for Ron will be held at 3:30 pm on Friday, August 13, 2021 at St. Thomas Church, 226 Washington Street, Menasha. Visitation will be held at the church from 2:00 pm until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Thomas Episcopal Church are appreciated.
