Obituary
James Fredrick Kuehl, age 93 of Neenah, passed away late Monday, August 9, 2021 afternoon. He was born March 31, 1928 in Neenah to the late Emil and Ella Kuehl and married Lorna Boettcher on September 19, 1953.
Jim grew up a resident of Neenah, having attended school at Roosevelt Elementary, Trinity Lutheran School, and a graduate of Neenah High School, class of 1946. He then attended UW-Madison and graduated with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering in January of 1951. While attending college, Jim was a member of ROTC as Second Lieutenant in Corps of Engineers. He then served in the Reserves from 1951 until 1963 in the 291st Engineer Combat Battalion and 884th FABN.
Jim worked for Kimberly-Clark for 37 years, retiring in 1988. He was majorly involved with the specification, design, procurement, and overall technical control; construction and operations follow-up; and training in operations and engineering. His employment with Kimberly-Clark provided him multiple places to live including, Neenah; Niagara, WI; Ontario and New Brunswick, Canada; Northern California; and various cities throughout Mexico.
In his retirement, Jim lived in Neenah and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, flower gardening, golfing, and writing stories focusing on family history and contemporary local Neenah history. He also enjoyed traveling with UW Alumni Tours, treasured his companionship with Lorna, and believed strongly in Christian ministry and in the study and proclamation of God's word.
Jim his survived by his daughters: Karen Blohm and Dianne (Robert) LaBore, who fondly remember their hunting shack on Lake Poygan and shopping for flowers. He is further survived by his grandchildren: Rachel (Edward) Maloney; Lisa (Josh) Sobota; Brett LaBore; and Bryce LaBore; as well as by his great-grandchildren: William Maloney and Keston Sobota.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorna in 2014; and by his siblings: Elizabeth and Tom.
A funeral service for Jim will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Friday, August 13, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 407 Oak St., Neenah, Rev. Tony McKenzie officiating. A visitation will be held at church from 10:30 A.M. until the hour of service. Jim will be laid to rest with Lorna at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
