SANDRA SCHAFER

Sandy A. Schafer, age 62, passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on March 31, 1959 to the late Alton and Carol Basler and resided in Larsen. Sandy married Joe Schafer on October 28, 1978 and they were blessed with 43 years together. She worked as a school-bus driver for Winneconne School District and later worked at Winnebago Mental Health Institute, where she retired after a 20-year career.

Sandy loved traveling, riding motorcycles and ice fishing with her husband, making memories and going on an adventure.  She treasured sharing and making memories, holidays and special occasions memorable for the ones she loved, whether that was birthdays, Father/Mother's Day, countless Christmas cookies and cards and all the days in between.  Sandy cared for and had many crazy adventures with all the animals at the family's home. In the last months, she especially enjoyed spending mornings with her husband and daughter, sipping a good cup of coffee on the back porch and looking at all of her flowers.  Most of all, Sandy valued spending quality time with her family; meals together as a family were a must, she often said she married her best friend and she considered her daughter her angel from heaven.

She is survived by her husband Joe Schafer, daughter Becca Schafer, siblings Sue (Greg) Franzke, Steve (Paula) Basler, Bob (Mary) Basler, and Sally (Tom) Hietpas; sister-in-law Lori Basler, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Sandy was preceded in death by her brother Richard Basler.

The funeral service for Sandy will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021 at the Westgor Funeral Home, 205 W. Doty Avenue, Neenah WI. Open Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, with a Sermon Service beginning at 11:00 am. Immediately afterward, Sandy will be laid to rest at St. Margaret Cemetery (inside of Oak Hill Cemetery off of Oakridge Road in Neenah). Friends are welcome to accompany the family to the burial or proceed to Neenah Labor Temple, 157 S. Green Bay Rd, Neenah where the family will conclude with food, drink and Sandy's Celebration of Life.
