FLORENCE KLABUNDE

Florence Alice Klabunde, age 83, passed into the arms of her Lord October 5, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was born January 31, 1938 to the late Frank and Alice Bessette. Living on the family farm in Eland, WI, she was the second oldest of 10 children.  On August 10, 1957 she married Kenneth Klabunde. Together they made their home in Neenah and raised six children. They were blessed with 61 years of marriage before his passing on October 6, 2018.

Florence was devoted wife and mother who loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a great cook and canned fruits and vegetables. She made clothes for her children, taught her children to ice skate, and took them sledding. She was the leader for her daughters' Girl Scout troops and enjoyed family camping trips. She later enjoyed going to the family cottage with family and friends. As busy as she was, she found time to write over two hundred poems. While she was able, she enjoyed bingo, reading, word searches, singing, dancing, Wheel of Fortune, and watching the Green Bay Packers.

Florence was a very faithful woman, volunteering as an Adorer at the Twin Cities Perpetual Adoration Chapel at St. Margaret Mary Parish and cherished her Bible study. She volunteered in the kitchen and library at St. Margaret Mary when her children were attending grade school. She was loved dearly by her family and friends. She will be missed greatly.

Florence is survived by her children: Debbie (Jeff) Keck, Donna Baker, Diane (Fred Kuester) Klabunde, Dawn Klabunde, Doreen (John) Urbschat, and Rodney (Teresa) Klabunde; grandchildren: Luke (Kara) Keck, Adam (Brittany) Keck, Jim Baker Jr., Ken (Tiesha Wilber) Baker, Jessy Urbschat, Chris Urbschat; Kayla, Jenna, and Logan Klabunde; great-grandchildren: Paige, Ally, Jayde, Grant, Mackenzie, Keagan, and Finnick. She was further survived by her siblings: Barbara Feehrer, Gary (Linda) Bessette, Daniel Bessette, and Cynthia (Henry) Palma; by her sister-in-law, Genevieve Bessette; by her brothers-in-law: Carroll “Toke” (Annette) Klabunde; and Donald (Barbara) Klabunde; as well as many nieces, nephews, and family friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth; by her granddaughter, Mary Keck; and by her siblings: Floyd Bessette; Ronald Bessette; Patricia Schertz; Carmen Pingle; and Bradley Bessette.

A memorial mass will be held for Florence at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 620 Division St., Neenah, with Fr. Dennis Bergsbaken officiating. Visitation will be held at church from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of mass. Florence will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Kenneth.
