Obituary
Dorothy Louise Brendemihl “Pinky,” 83, died Saturday October 23, 2021, at Emerald Ridge. She was born, January 15, 1938, in Colorado Springs, CO; daughter of the late Lloyd and Ruth (Dierker) Whiteaker. Dorothy married Kenneth Brendemihl on February 3, 1955. Then celebrated 57 wonderful years together before Ken preceded Dorothy in death on February 17, 2012.
Dorothy worked for over 20 years at Valhaven Nursing Home as a supervisor. She later worked at Gene's Bakery, and Mike's Town and Country grocery store. Dorothy enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading, shopping, and listening to Country-Western music. In her younger years, she and Ken enjoyed camping. Her greatest enjoyment came from time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her three children: son, Edwin (Marie); and two daughters: Lois (Mike) Slowatyniec, and Donna (Pete) Matowitz; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elsie (Neil) Bisping. Dorothy was further preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Grosskopf, son, Dave Brendemihl; great-grandson, Chris Howard; a brother, Gene; and sister, Irmalee.
A private family celebration will be held.
Dorothy's family would like to extend a special thank you to all her CNAs over the years at Emerald Ridge, and her Hospice nurse, Nicole from Heartland Hospice, for all their care and compassion.
