COREY WEYLAND

COREY WEYLAND

September 21, 1974 - January 08, 2022

Obituary

Corey James Weyland was born to James and Lavonne Weyland on September 21, 1974 in Neenah, Wisconsin. He grew up on a dairy farm with two sisters Vicky and Debbie and three brothers David, Jay, and Kelsey. Corey graduated from Neenah High School prior to attending the Fox Valley Technical College to become a diesel technician. He worked at Kobussen Buses for several years before starting at Ryder Transportation, where he worked for the past 18 years. Corey sadly passed away too soon on January 8, 2022 at the age of 47.

Corey was many things; a loving companion to his dogs, a brother, an uncle, a cousin, a godfather, and a friend of everyone he would encounter. It was hard to take anything too seriously around Corey, he was always the first person to take the edge off of serious moments and send the whole room into laughter. He never took himself too seriously, and reminded others to see the lighter side too. You could say that he was the life of every party or gathering. He was never at a loss for quick or funny remarks to anything anyone said - in fact, we continue to quote all of his remarks to this day. No event was truly started until Corey Weyland got there!

In addition to being the silly guy we all knew, he was also a kind and caring man who would help anyone in need. While Corey didn't have any children of his own, he treated his nieces and nephews as if they were his. He loved them so deeply and was always so excited to be part of their lives in any way he could. He even loved their pets as if they were his own too.

Corey could bond with just about any dog he ever met – If Corey could buy every stray dog a Happy Meal and take them home with him, he would! He loved any and all animals he met and any animal was instantly drawn to him for his gentle demeanor. His deep love and appreciation for animals was one of his biggest qualities that bled into every aspect of his life.

Corey could get along with just about anyone. He was always welcoming to new neighbors and friends. If they were a friend of yours, they were a friend of Corey's! He would give the best hugs that made you feel loved, and he could banter with the best of them. You could always rely on him to tell you the truth even if you didn't want to hear it.

He was always so excited to share his passions with others, whether it be his love for animals, tractors, camping, snowmobiling, hunting or the Packers. If you looked up “Wisconsin” in a dictionary, you would see Corey's personality reflected. He was a classic Wisconsin guy through and through with his Carhart sweatshirt stained from a day's hard work, his CASE baseball cap, and steel toe boots.

One of Corey's biggest passions in life was tractor pulling. He could talk about it all day and it was what kept him close to the memories of growing up on the farm. He enjoyed restoring his Case tractors and especially his most recent 970, as it was similar to his Dad's. Corey felt his tractor pulling was a way to keep his Dad's memory alive. He always wanted to share his knowledge of tractor pulling and was proud when others wanted to pull his tractor.

While Corey was taken too soon, we know that he is walking with God now. If going to dog heaven were an option, Corey would be there in good company with Gus, Fudgy, Cooper, and Copper. While it will take time to heal our hearts, we will never stop missing him. While he may be gone from this Earth, he will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his brother, David(Lori); two sisters: Vicky (Rusty Morey) Weyland, and Debbie Foth; sister in-law, Mary Weyland; his companion and friend of 15 years, Jennifer Kruse: nine nieces: Sarah, Melissa, Kimberly (Chris) Bates, Andria, Brianna (Tom) Carter, MaKenzie, Candice, Jodie and Cassie; his three nephews: David Jr., Bradley (fiancee' Christina Basken), and James; Corey is further survived by his loving dog, Griffin; He was preceded in death by his father James; mother Lavonne; brother Kelsey; Corey's  brother Jay sadly passed just six days after him.

The visitation for Corey will take place on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 from 3-7p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 3703 Fairview Road, Neenah, WI 54956. The funeral service will be held at church on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 11a.m. Out of concern for everyone's safety, masks will be required inside the church. For those unable to attend the funeral service, it will be available to be viewed on the Westgor Funeral Home's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/WestgorFuneralHomes/).
