JEFFREY VAN GOMPEL

Jeffrey Earl Van Gompel passed away peacefully at Compass Development LLC Care Facility Sunday, February 27th, 2022, at the age of 60. He was born in Neenah, Wisconsin on June 9^th, 1961.

Jeff graduated from Menasha High School, class of 1979. He was an active member of the United States Coast Guard specializing in port security. He graduated with honors from Skagit Valley College, Mt Vernon, Washington with a degree in Natural Resources. During this time he worked as a Park Ranger for Silver Lake Park. Jeff then proceeded his career in law enforcement. Graduating number one in his class from the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission. Jeff became a police officer with Ocean Shores Police Department. Shortly followed by Deputy Sheriff with Whatcom County in Bellingham, Washington.

Jeff was a very adventurous person. He loved skiing, mountain climbing, and nature. He had a love for music, playing his guitar and banjo. Unfortunately, Jeff was in a terrible car accident while on duty in 1991, sustaining a serious brain injury. Although he wasn't able to do everything he loved, he always had his love of nature and music.

Jeff is survived by his mother Evelyn “Evie” Van Gompel; Sisters: Jennice (Jeff) “G and JT” Tiedt, Gina (Jim) Neubert; Niece, Makayla Neubert; Nephew, Mason Neubert. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

Jeff is proceeded in death by his father, Earl Van Gompel; Grandparents; and Nephew, Jesse Ottman.

The family will celebrate Jeff's life on Wednesday March 9th, 2022, at Menasha's Westgor Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 11:00am to 1:00pm with funeral service and Military Honors following at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.

Thank you to Compass Development, Kevin LaPointe, and all his staff for the many years of care for Jeff. You were all like family. Thank you for all the care and compassion from Unity Hospice staff while Jeff resided in Luxemburg, Wisconsin.
