GARY ELMER

July 30, 1958 - May 14, 2022

Obituary

Gary Allen Elmer, 63, died unexpectedly on Saturday May 14, 2022, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Neenah. He was born July 30, 1958, in Neenah, son of the late, Floyd and Marion (Dorn) Elmer.

He was an outdoorsman who LOVED hunting, fishing (especially Lake Michigan), and camping.  He loved wearing his baseball hats and was really excited when he got a new one.

Gary was a friend to all and would help anyone out if they asked.

He and Jan were together almost 30 years.  They traveled a great deal.  His favorite trips were the cruise to Alaska and to South Dakota to see Mount Rushmore.  He said his claim to fame was that he went to every casino in Wisconsin and Upper Michigan (his favorites being Keshena and Turtle Lake).  They camped every Memorial Day and Labor Day at Collins Lakr in Portage County which he looked forward to every year.

Gary  worked for J.J. Keller for 44 years retiring in August,  2021.

Gary was a softball coach and bowled for many years.  He loved the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and Milwaukee Bucks (in that order) and also liked hockey and golf (which he also played).

Gary is survived by his son, Mike; his long-time companion, Jan Edmunds; two grandchildren: Mikahla, and Bayler; two brothers: Don (Peggy), and Brian (Denise);  and three sisters: Diane (Steve) Volkman, Sue (sp. Friend Darrel Lafferty Jr.) Lauterbach and Deborah (Marvin) klenke and Jan's son, Joshua Oshefsky (Kristen) whom he was like a stepfather.

Funeral service for Gary will be 2:00 PM on Friday May 20, 2022, at WESTGOR FUNERAL HOME, Neenah, with Rev. Amy Engebose of St. Paul Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday afternoon beginning at 12:00 PM (noon) until the 2:00 PM service. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah.
