Obituary
Mrs. Ethelreda “Ethel” G. Dennis, age 98, 535 Schindler Place, Menasha, formerly of Pine River and Neenah, died at her home on Friday, May 27, 2022. She was born May 17, 1924, in Neenah, daughter of the late Edward and Dorthea (Eckes) Witbrod.
Ethel married George “Bill” Dennis on April 12, 1947, in Neenah. She worked at KC until she started her family. Ethel had 11 children and in her spare time volunteered at St. Margaret Mary School and Lakeview Elementary School. Ethel then went back to work at E & R Construction and Churm Construction.
Ethel was a member at St. Margaret Mary Parish in Neenah, Sacred Heart Parish in Poy Sippi, and then Sacred Heart Parish in Appleton.
Survivors include her 11 children: John Dennis, Ev (Ed) Zemlock, Jean (Jeff) Hoppe, Ann (Tom) Tollard, all of Neenah, Tom (Mary) Dennis, Oconomowoc, Rick (Kim) Dennis, Donna Hottenstine, Jane Hoppe, all of Menasha, Kathy (Ken) Losinske, Bill (Lisa) Dennis, both of Berlin, Betsy (Mark) Traxler, Oshkosh; 28 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Dennis; two sisters: Helen Peck, Dorothy Kuske; a granddaughter, Amanda Schubert; grandson, Shannon Dennis; three daughters-in-law: Cindy Dennis, Mary Ellen Dennis and Tammy Dennis; and two sons-in-law: Matt Schubert and Doc Hottenstine.
The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 222 E. Fremont St, Appleton. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 AM until the hour of Mass. Interment will follow in Pine River Cemetery in Pine River, WI.
