Obituary
John M. Yelmene, age 77, passed away Sunday June 4, 2022 at his home, in Neenah. He was born November 9, 1944 in Manitowoc, son of the late Edward and Elsie (Schimon) Yelmene. John attended local schools in Manitowoc and graduated from West Division High School in Milwaukee class of 1963. He moved back to Manitowoc shortly after graduation. It is there that he met his wife Mary. John and Mary were married on December 14, 1968. After having worked in several positions he took to opticianry which would become his life long career with Corr Opticians. For many years he managed their Oshkosh operation.
As a young man John enjoyed golfing and bowling. Later he became involved in endurance sports such as distance running and skate skiing. He participated in many Fox City and Madison Marathons, Birkenbeiners and the Door Nordic 50K. Later in life he continued to enjoy playing golf.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Ralph, Eunice, Daniel, Louise, Florence, Ralph, Alice, Daniel, Betty, James. John is survived by his loving daughter, Kelly Yelmene (Clemente Nicado) and his two grandsons: Clemente and Camilo Nicado Yelmene and several nieces and nephews.
John's remains will be laid to rest along with those of his wife at Greenlawn Memorial Park during a private family service.
