THOMAS BLOHM

Thomas R. Blohm, age 60, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Aurora St. Luke's Hospital, Milwaukee. A sudden illness led to lymphoma cancer diagnosis, which weakened Tom beyond point of recovery. He was born December 6, 1961 in Des Plaines, IL, to the late Ronald and Roberta (Richards) Blohm. The family later moved to rural Wisconsin when Tom was 2 years old. Tom remained a life-long resident of Neenah, WI.

Tom graduated from Neenah High School in 1980. He held various jobs before being employed with the City of Neenah Public Works for 30 years until his retirement in 2020. Tom married Ann Kuchenbecker, later divorced but remained close friends over the years.

Tom loved the outdoors as he pursued his passions in hunting, fishing, sturgeon spearing, and he dreamed of owning property in the Northwoods. He had such a sweet spot for his granddaughter and couldn't wait to share some of his passions with her, once she got older.  We all knew Tom had a special connection with firewood.  Whenever someone called Tom and asked him what he was doing, it involved making firewood one way or another.  His love of working with trees, positioned Tom to be lead saw for the city of Neenah. He enjoyed trimming and grooming his own trees, and volunteered to help others when asked.

Following retirement, Tom discovered his love of gardening.  He started by planting 500 lavender plants his first year of retirement, followed with another 500 plants in year two.  He had a very creative connection with flowers and vegetables as he manicured the gardens in his back yard.  He loved to create beautiful, peaceful areas outdoors, where he found solitude. He was an excellent cook in the kitchen, preparing amazing dishes for family and friends whenever there was a get together.

He is survived by his son, Tom L. (Cassandra) Blohm; granddaughter, Sage whom he adored; two brothers: Robert L. Blohm, Michael J. Blohm; three nieces: Robyn Haley (Brian) Swanson, Ronni Blohm (Colton Saunders, fiancé), Randi Blohm; and a great-niece, Kennedy Saunders. Tom is preceded in death by parents.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm on Friday, August 19, 2022, at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home.  Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until the hour of service.  A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 pm at Old 41 Saloon.

In lieu of flowers Tom's family will be having trees planted around Neenah is his memory.

Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
