Obituary
Matthew Nicholas Shukoski, 44 passed away on August 9, 2022, at his residence with the same amazing grace, courage, and quiet strength he lived by each day. He was born December 30, 1977, in Green Bay, son of Darlene (Ritchie) VanHorn and Edmund Shukoski.
Matthew grew up in Appleton and New London. He graduated from New London High School on May 30, 1996. He earned three degrees in computer programming from Fox Valley Technical College. In 2001, Matt earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Computer Information Systems, Programming Analysis. In 2010, he earned an Associate Degree in Information Technology (IT)-Web Development and Design. In 2011, he received Information Technology and Web Design Certification. Matt worked at JJ Keller for two years until his health limited his opportunities. He enjoyed playing and appreciating music, snowboarding, and spending time with friends.
Matt is survived by his devoted mother, Darlene; father, Edmund; several aunts and uncles; sister, Laura (Michael) Paalman and children Ashley (Jase, and Hadley), Alex (fiancée Alyssa, and daughter Colbie), Cody, Brandon, and Brady; his brother Michael (Becky) Shukoski and children Zach (Nicole) and Madison Shukoski. He shared a special closeness with Zach, Nicole and Madison who adored “Uncle Matt” for his gentleness, sense of humor and kindness. Together they thrived on mutual quick wit and banter. Matt is also survived by Josh (Leah) VanHorn, and their children Evrhett, and Morgan. Matt had a special love for his Goddaughter Arelle Maiman.
Matt fostered many close friendships. He appreciated the time he spent with each and every one of his friends, no matter how frequently they were able to visit. Bryan, in particular, has been a pinnacle of support-always willing to extend help to Darlene and Matt with any task that needed to be addressed.
Memorial service for Matt will be 4:00 PM on Friday, August 26th at WESTGOR FUNERAL HOME NEENAH, with Pastor Ricky Schroeder officiating. Visitation will be held at funeral home, beginning at 1:00PM until the hour of the service.
Matt's family would like to express sincere gratitude for the entire staff of Theda Care at Home Hospice and the many caregivers for the care and compassion shown to us during Matt's journey.
Matt's wish for all that knew him is to live each day embracing challenges as they come, with strength.
