DOROTHY MENDONCA

Dorothy was a good good woman, a dedicated pastor, a caring friend, a wise colleague, and provided me my first stab at sharing in pastoral ministry with an equal partner.  She came to us in the Moravian Church and shared her manifold gifts with us.  I have been forever blessed by that co-pastorate.  Even as I travelled all over the U.S., many Easters were celebrated with a pound of Hughes Home Maid chocolate covered peanuts that arrived from the “Easter Bunny” who, of course, was Dorothy.  I will miss that box of goodies each Easter but not as much as I will miss my good friend, Dorothy.  I am so grateful for the Resurrection Faith that we share.

Of all of the colleagues and mentors that I have had in my 28 years of ministry in the UCC, Dorothy's profound wisdom and steadfast faith guided me and shaped me most. It was so wonderful to be in clergy group with Dorothy during my years in Chilton. It was she who gave me a book about the Art of Being a Pastor. I give thanks and praise for her life lived among us.
