RUTH CANNON

November 12, 1932 - July 06, 2023

Obituary

Ruth C. Cannon, age 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Country Villa of Little Chute. She was born November 12, 1932, in Gladstone, MI, daughter of the late Peter and Elvyre (Mottard) Cannon.

Ruth graduated from Gladstone High School in 1950. She moved to Minneapolis to be with her  sister, Maureen, experiencing the big city life and to work.  In 1967 she found herself here in the Fox Valley and established roots with other additional family in the area.  Ruth was employed with Theda Clark Hospital for about 15-20 years in the Lab and then from there took a job at Kimberly Clark's Health Center on Hwy II (Neenah) with Dr. Robert Dedmon and his team.  She was fortunate to do a lot of traveling conducting in-house physicals for employees.  The travels brought her to all different Kimberly Clark plants throughout the USA.  She retired from Kimberly Clark after 17 years of employment.

Growing up in the UP, Ruth enjoyed snow and winters! She took to downhill skiing as a small child which in her adult years brought her out to Colorado downhill skiing every February for years.   After she hung up her skis came her love for golf.   She so enjoyed her women's golf league which fostered so many friendships that also included playing cards with these same golfing buddies.  Her true love and passion for sports was baseball.  She most recently began watching and cheering for the Brewers but her unending love was always her New York Yankees and specifically Derek Jeter! Let's not forget her love for the Packers and Aaron Rogers!

To say Ruth enjoyed cooking was an understatement. Everything was made from scratch and every recipe was unique, tasty and made with love. She had a quest to find different recipes on a weekly basis. There was not one cooking/food magazine she did not have a subscription to!

Survivors include three children: Michelle (Michael) Loncar, Christopher (Elizabeth) Halweg, Kathleen (Robert) Clausing; five grandchildren: Meghan Dunlavy, Jenny (Scott) Hewit, Jacob Clausing, Zachary (Rachel) Clausing and Jennifer (Marty) Milner. Five great-grandchildren: Hazel, Beau, Wyatt, Oaklyn and Avery; and her sister, Maureen Cannon. Her special and dear friend Denise Anderson.

Ruth was preceded in death by a son, Michael Halweg in 2006; and six siblings.

Ruth is a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church, Appleton where the Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023, at Noon (N2926 WI-47, Appleton), with Fr. Robert Chinnapan officiating. The visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 AM until the hour of service.

In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established for ThedaCare Hospice. A private burial will be held at Gladstone, MI Fernwood Cemetery on a later date.

A special thank you to all the Staff at Country Villa Assisted Living – Little Chute and ThedaCare Hospice, especially Ida, my mom so loved your friendship.  All of you filled her room with comfort and warmth!  Thank you for all your wonderful care and compassion.
