Obituary
Burton J. Rosenthal, Jr., age 73 of Neenah, passed away peacefully early Thursday, October 6, 2022 after a brief illness. He was born to Burton J. and Louise (Sontag) Rosenthal, Sr. on November 13, 1948.
Burt was a 1967 graduate of Menasha High School and continued his education briefly before enlisting in the Air Force in July 1968. He served until 1972, having worked as an aircraft mechanic and being stationed at DeNang AFB in Vietnam. After his time in the military, Burt married Julie Harder on February 10, 1973. He spent the majority of his working career at Midwest Rubber Plate Company, later as the production supervisor.
Burt enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time up north, playing Shanghai rummy with his family, bowling, having coffee with the guys at Shellatte's, watching The Price is Right at Tony's Bar and always having a sassy come back. He was also an avid Packers, Badgers and Brewers fan.
Burt is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Julie; by his two daughters: Amy (Scott) Randall, and Katie (Kurt) Rosenthal-Mayer; his six grandchildren: Jacob, Morgan, Eli, and Carter Randall; and Maysun Rosenthal; and Maren Mayer. He is further survived by his sister, Carolyn Cornell; by his dog, Lou; and by many friends and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his two sisters: Elizabeth Colloton and Nikki Rosenthal.
A graveside prayer service with military honors for Burt will be held at 10:00am on Friday, November 4 at Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Winchester. A celebration of Burt's life will follow from 11:30am to 3:30pm at The Dome, 1338 S. Commercial St., Neenah. Casual dress is required and camouflage is encouraged.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Burt's name. A special thank you to the St. Elizabeth's care team, as well as our friend, Shelly Baeten. We appreciate you taking such good care of Burt.
