ORLA SCHMIDT

Orla Lillie (Springstroh) Schmidt, 92, went to her eternal home and found rest in the arms of her Savior on November 10, 2022.  She was born in Freedom, WI on February 6, 1930, the fifth of thirteen children born to Otto and Minna Springstroh.  She was baptized in faith March 9, 1930 and confirmed in that faith on April 18, 1943 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Freedom.  Orla married David Schmidt on June 30, 1951 and they made their home in Neenah.  They were blessed with 36 years of marriage and four children.  David was called to his heavenly home on November 13, 1987.  Orla will always be remembered for her love of family, sewing Barbie doll clothes and baking peppernuts.  She was a member of Martin Luther Ev. Lutheran Church for over 70 years.

Orla is survived by daughters, Kathryn (Frank) Bloomer; Mary Miller and son, John Schmidt; daughter-in-law Eunice Schmidt; five granddaughters Heather (Todd) Weber and their children David, Grace and Eve; Stacey (Justin) Stewartson and their children Thea and Gabriel; Krista (Bryan) Bieniek and their children Birch, Asher and Hayven; Heidi (Justin) Bohl and their children Sophie, Ryder and Lillie; and Alissa Miller.  She is further survived by her siblings, Nora Herman, Arlin (Janet) Springstroh, Victor (Pat) Springstroh, Myrna (Ron) Witt, Alice Riehl and sister-in-law Judy Springstroh and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Orla was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David; her firstborn son, Douglas who in 2019 went to his dear Savior's arms after a courageous battle with cancer and her loving son-in-law, Michael, who met Jesus face to face in that same year; her siblings Walter (Eunice) Springstroh, Gerda (Tony) Kuba, Lester Springstroh, Melda (Bob) Behle, Edgar Springstroh, Carol (Don) Wenninger, John Springstroh and brothers-in-law Leslie Herman and Vernon Riehl; David's siblings Gilbert (Dorothy) Schmidt, Richard (Phyllis) Schmidt, Janet (Alvin) Kasten and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A visitation for Orla will be held Monday, November 14, 2022 at 11am at Martin Luther Ev. Lutheran Church, 436 S. Lake Street, Neenah until the time of service at 1pm.

In lieu of flowers please direct memorials to Martin Luther Ev. Lutheran Church or Fox Valley Lutheran High School. Following the service, a light lunch will be served at church.
