KAREN THOMPSON

Karen E. Thompson, age 76 of Neenah, passed away early Sunday, February 3, 2019. She was born April 2, 1942 to the late John and Elizabeth Koch in Oshkosh. On July 7, 1962, she married Robert Thompson. He preceded her in death in June of 2009.

Karen worked her entire career as an LPN, starting at Twin City Clinic, and retiring from the same clinic many years later, at that time known as Affinity on Doty Island. She was a longtime member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Neenah and enjoyed being a member of their choir as well. Music in general was a very important part of Karen's life. She played many instruments including the piano, organ, and accordion, and did so at many church functions, nursing homes, and with several gospel groups. Her social gatherings after church and musical events, were some of her favorite times. She did, however, love cooking and would do so for people any time she could.

In the summers, Karen and Robert enjoyed time at their lake cabin in Birchwood, but after retirement, the two downsized to a permanent campsite at Hucklberry Acres Campground in order to be closer to their grandchildren.

She is survived by her children: LuAnn Gorecki and Bill Thompson; her grandchildren: Kimberly Gorecki, and Louis and Emily Thompson. She is also survived by her brother, Jack (Christy) Koch; niece and nephew: Jason (Heather) Koch and Katie (Chris) Code. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert; and by Robert's parents, Louis and Edith Thompson.

A funeral service for Karen will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Friday, February 8, 2019 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 140 S. Green Bay Rd., Neenah, with Rev. Robert Wilkinson officiating. A visitation will be held at church from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of service, with fellowship to follow. She will be laid to rest alongside Robert at Oak Hill Cemetery.
