ROGER HARTFIEL

Roger W. Hartfiel, age 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 24, 2022, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center – Appleton. He was born July 7, 1941, in Weyauwega, WI, son of the late William and Anna (Pagel) Hartfiel.

Roger proudly served his country in the US Army, with active combat duty in the Vietnam war. He then continued his service by joining the National Guard upon returning home. He was employed at Banta Company throughout his working years.  Roger enjoyed fishing and the outdoors, but his real passion was woodworking and “puttering” around out in his garage with a beer and a smoke. If he couldn't solve it, there wasn't a problem!

Roger is survived by his two sons: Jason (Collette) Hartfiel, Joe Hartfiel; two granddaughters: Kayla (Ryan) Bowe, Josephine Smith; four siblings: Darlene Ernst, Donna Jean Clark, Marjorie Knudsen, Sharon (Ronnie) Nollenberg; a great-niece, Brianna Popp; a great-nephew, Cole Popp; his Godchildren, Jessica Popp, Samantha Daley, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Roger was preceded in death by siblings: Mary (Bernard) Kruse, Donald Hartfiel, Shirley (Bob) Hanson, Patricia (David) Christensen, Stanley Hartfiel, Cynthia Hartfiel, as well as a brother-in law Sam Clark.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the amazing staff at AMC, both on the eighth floor and in the ER, as well as visiting nurses, Jackie, and Ida, with ThedaCare at Home, for taking such good care of Roger. A special thanks to Jennifer, Laura, and Stephanie for going above and beyond to ensure the best care for Roger.

The funeral service will be held at Noon on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at Menasha's Westgor Funeral Home. The visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the hour of service. Military Honors will be held with the Neenah Menasha Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will follow in Resthaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.
