My deepest condolences on your loss. I remember Mr. Hoks fondly as one of my high school track coaches. And, I’m also thankful for the time both of you spent with my sister Lynn before she passed. Thinking of you during this difficult time.

Bev, Sarah and family:
We are truly saddened to hear of Dan‘s passing. Dan’s ever present and infectious smile are forever etched into our minds. I was blessed to come into contact with Dan as a new teacher at Menasha High School in the spring of 1975. Dan was a role model to me as I entered the teaching and coaching profession. The patience that Dan showed me as a first year teacher helped to curb my nerves and prompt me to feel welcomed and I value Dan’s life lessons even more to this day. Little did I know that my decision to coach track and field at Menasha High would give me an even better look at how to live life as a teacher/coach which Dan so expertly modeled. Dan treated each and every student and athlete with dignity and respect. Dan was always at the entry to the track or the field house on a nightly basis as students reported for practice . Dan would greet each and every athlete with his smile, dignifying their presence by calling them by their first name. My wife Janis and I grew to be good friends with Dan and Bev during the early years in Menasha. Our hearts are filled with so many great memories of time spent with Dan and Bev in good fun and laughs including late night trips to Mister Donut. Bev, Sarah and family may peace be with you as you celebrate the life of a very special man. Thanks be to God for allowing me to steal time with Dan Hoks under the guise of coaching track and field. For years I would tell my students and athletes to find somebody that helps make you better a better person. As I reflect back on our years in Menasha I realize now that I was blessed to have found Dan, he was a man that made me a better teacher/coach/person just as he did for so many other “Bluejays” in the classroom and on the track. Rest in peace Dan!
