Obituary
Anne Marie Crone, age 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 15th with her family and friends at her side. She was born to Max and Mary Fritschel in Shorewood, Wi, August 11, 1931.
A graduate of Downer College in Milwaukee, Anne met and married Bill Towne in 1953. Together they raised three sons in Neenah. Anne enjoyed playing the piano and was a long-time member of the choir at St Paul Lutheran Church. She was an Alderman for the 5th Ward and later a school board member for the Neenah School District. Anne also found the time to achieve her private pilot's license.
Her husband Bill passed away in October of 1978. She remained in the Valley until 1984 when she moved to Washington DC to work for Congressman Tom Petri. Following her position with Tom Petri, Anne was selected as a member of the Advance Team for George Bush's presidential campaign.
She met and married Lieutenant Colonel Forrest Crone on August 24th, 1985. They lived in North Carolina until moving back to Sheboygan, Wi in 2004. Anne and Forrest loved traveling and took several trips abroad. In 2009 they moved back to Appleton and took up residence at Touchmark.
Anne was proceeded in death by her parents, her brother Max, Bill Towne and Forrest Crone.
Anne is survived by her sons Andrew, Larry (Barbara), Daniel (Mary Liz), five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a third on the way. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at the Touchmark Chapel, 2601 Touchmark Dr., Appleton. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, please direct donations to the Salvation Army.
