Obituary

Paul Herbert Robinson, age 93 a loving Husband, dedicated Father and grandfather, brave soldier and successful businessman passed away peacefully on March 10, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.

His legacy began November 27th, 1929, in Neenah Wi. He was born to Frederick and Amanda. Paul graduated from high school at Western Military Academy in Alton, IL. In 1951 he received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, VA as a member of The Class of 1951. VMI was a great source of pride for Paul.

On July 21st, 1951, he married Alice Jean Christoph at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Neenah, WI. They enjoyed 69 years of marriage and raised three children. Paul served in the U.S. Army from September of 1951 until August of 1953, which included an assignment in Korea. He is a life member of the 25th Infantry Division. After his Army service, Paul began working at Kimberly-Clark. During his 41 years he worked at facilities in Neenah, Memphis, TN, Hendersonville, NC and Roswell, GA. With each move the family found a church home. Paul served in various capacities including the councils of five congregations. After his retirement in 1992, he and Jean spent winters in Panama City Beach and they loved it there, especially when the children and families would come to visit.

He is survived by his son Christopher of Lynn Haven, FL; 2 daughters Paula (Brian) Nussbaum of Appleton, WI and Julie (Tim) Turner of Michigan; grandchildren Henry (Mao), Amanda (Chris), Zach (Shauna), and Audra; along with his great-grandson Danny.

The memorial service for Paul will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 200 North Commercial Street, Neenah, WI 54956, at 11:00 on Friday March 24th, 2023, with full military honors. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 am until the time of the service. Paul will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Neenah. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of Theda Care Neenah 5 South for their exceptional care. They would also like to thank Angie and John his special friends for their care and compassion. Pastor Amy for her care and support of the family as Paul passed.

Paul was a patriot who served his country and community well. We appreciate his role as a volunteer at the Military Veterans Museum in Oshkosh.

I’ll always remember Paul as my Dad’s (Jim Robinson) “Brother Paul”. He and Dad started at Kimberly Clark at the same time and their friendship lasted over 60 years. After Dad passed, Paul continued his friendship with my mother until the end. He was a gentleman and will be missed. Thinking of his family at this difficult time.

It is difficult to put into mere words just how large Paul’s personality, loyalty and character are.  Anyone who knows/knew him felt honored and blest to be in his presence, to share stories and really good conversation with him.  Paul lived every single day to the fullest.  He did not wait (for much of anything :)  He really did not wait for what life was going to bring to him.  He met every day prepared and energetic to meet the tasks at hand and enjoy the gifts and pleasures of that day.  His family meant the world to him.  Paul is one of the finest men I have had the honor to meet, get to know, and build a relationship with.  The community and world was lucky to have the spirit and soul of Paul Herbert Robinson, always loyally, from Neenah, WI.  We know you are with Jean and those loved ones that have gone before you.  The pain is with us mere humans left to feel the void of losing you.  I am so very grateful for all of our adventures we were lucky to share.  I miss you so deeply Paul.

My Uncle Paul, A wonderful individual - a caring individual that always remembered to send a Birthday card, a Christmas card, delicious Wisconsin Cheese at Christmas AND he loved his family - it was evident whenever you spoke to him.  We had a nice lunch with Paul at Waverly Beach in the summer of 2021.  He insisted on treating ( that was Paul ).  He will be missed and he was loved.  A veteran-thank you for your service to our country.  Our prayers are now with Paul’s family in this their time of grief.  May Paul’s soul rest in peace and happiness.  May God Bless his soul and May God Bless Paul’s family. He was loved.

Paul was more than just an uncle, as uncle cannot sum up all the love that he exhibited and that I feel for him and his family. Maybe it was the 68 years of visits (probably more but I don't remember much before that, but there are pictures from when I was a baby). More visits than I can count as a child, and as an adult with my own family in Memphis, Duluth, Hendersonville, Birmingham, Appleton, Pittsburgh, Neenah, and Panama City. For many years the Blocks went to Memphis for Thanksgiving, or the Robinsons came to Pittsburgh. Chris and I would cry when it came time to leave. We were extended family, but so much more than that as Uncle Paul made you feel so welcome. I have to thank him for introducing me to Dennis the Menace (through his collection of books) and Pete Fountain (a great clarinetist) through his records. Uncle Paul, I love you and my life has been richer because you were in it.
