Obituary
Elaine Leota Liedel, 81, of Neenah, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2023 . She was surrounded by her family, and died peacefully at home. This was an especially bitter sweet day for Richard, her husband, as they also celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.
Elaine was predeceased by her parents, Melrose and Peter Macunovich, and her first born daughter, Lydia. She is survived by her husband Richard, her sister Nancy and brother Philip. Elaine is also survived by her son in law Bruce (Lydia) McLachlan of Michigan, daughters Gloria (Tim) Willman of Colorado, Cindy (Roger) Laitinen of Michigan and Virginia (Brady) Sturm of Wisconsin. Elaine was a very proud grandmother of six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Richard and Elaine were married on April 22, 1961, at St. John Bosco, in Redford, Michigan. They spent many years living in the Detroit area. In 1976, they decided to make their vacation home permanent, and moved to Gaylord, Michigan. They enjoyed many happy years living in the northern Michigan area. In 2020, when they moved to Neenah, Wisconsin.
Elaine was a devout Catholic, and found great comfort in her faith communities of Gaylord St. Mary, Traverse City St. Francis and St. Margaret Mary in Neenah. She enjoyed volunteering for numerous organizations including church groups, enrichment for the elderly and Hospice of Michigan.
Her family is grateful to know that Elaine is finally at peace. There will not be a visitation. A Catholic funeral Mass will be held for her at 11:00 am, Thursday, April 27, 2023, at St. Margaret Mary in Neenah. There will be a light reception to follow the Mass, in the church fellowship hall. Her family will have a private graveside ceremony at a later date.
