Obituary

Joyce Alice Birling, 91, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday May 1, 2023. Joyce passed away peacefully in her home with her daughter by her side. She was born in Neenah, WI on October 27, 1931, she was the only daughter to the late Henry and Stacy (Myhill) Kloehn. Joyce married James Birling on July 26, 1951, in her parents' home. Together they had six children. James later preceded her in death on December 22, 1982. Joyce later married John Birling on March 24, 1984 . During Joyce's marriage to John, they enjoyed traveling the world with their close friends Eddie and Elaine. John also preceded Joyce in death on March 13, 1991.

Joyce was a charter member of Bethel Ev. Lutheran Church, in Menasha, where she volunteered her time and talent to many church activities. Joyce enjoyed gardening and sharing her flowers and knowledge of plants with many. She also enjoyed bowling, scoring many 600 series for the Neenah Foundry. Joyce had a love for her family. Her greatest enjoyment came from time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Creating many meaningful holiday memories.

Joyce is survived by her five children: Tim Birling, of Weyauwega, Scott Birling, of Menasha, Rodney (Debbie) Birling, of Neenah, Sara (Steve) Myhill, of Menasha, and Jennie (Darren) Utke, of Montello; four grandchildren: Stacey (James) West, Becky (Chad) Weber, Craig (Darrion) Myhill, and Molly Utke; grand son-in-law, Brad Elsholtz; and 10 great-grandchildren: Brett, Michael, Jordan, Virginia, Charlotte, Lia, Brandon, Isabella, Keiran, Allisyn, and many nieces and nephews. Godchild Judy Cady and special friend Cindy; she was further preceded in death by her son, Jay Royal; daughter-in-law, Cindy, and granddaughter, Joanne Elsholtz.

Funeral service for Joyce will be held 4:00 PM on Saturday May 6, 2023, at BETHEL EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 829 Appleton Rd, Menasha, with Rev. John Raasch officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday beginning at 2:00 PM until the 4:00 PM service. The burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Neenah.

Joyce's family would like to extend a special thank you to all her caregivers, and the ThedaCare at home/hospice team.
