RICHARD HINZ

Richard Carl Hinz passed peacefully at Cherry Meadows Hospice Center on May 8, 2023. He was born in Neenah, on June 9, 1936, son of the late Arthur Hinz and Clara (Janssen) Hinz.

Richard graduated from Menasha High School in 1955 and lived in the Fox Cities for most of his life, except for a few years in Oswego, NY and Sun Prairie, WI. In his early career, Richard was a draftsman. He later worked for many years as a safety director at a local paper company. He started his own business, Safety Consulting Services, in the mid-1990s and retired and closed the business in 2019. He enjoyed the work he did helping businesses throughout eastern Wisconsin.

Richard loved to hunt and fish and was able to do these things into his eighties. He had a special place in his heart for Lake Winnebago and spent many hours on the lake boating and fishing. He was dedicated to going to the Neenah YMCA several times a week. He loved listening to music and dancing. Richard also volunteered as his son Scott's Little League baseball coach in the 1970's.

Richard is survived by his four children: two daughters: Julie (Mike) Schnese and Penny (Dan) Edwards; and two sons: Todd (Laura) Peterson and Scott (Cindy) Peterson; his many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister in-law, Karen Hinz; and his good friend and neighbor, Greg. He was further preceded in death by his brother, Rod Hinz.

A private family service will be held as a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent in Richard's name to Cherry Meadows Hospice, 2600 S. Heritage Woods Drive #43A, Appleton, WI 54915.

Richard's family would like to thank Cherry Meadows, Island Shores, ThedaCare at Home and Interim Healthcare for the wonderful care they all provided in his last year of life.
