Obituary

Jacqueline (Jackie) Ann McGrane left us peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 25th, 2023.

Jackie was born on November 19th, 1946 to James Denton Purdy and Catherine Ann (Hogan) Purdy in Macon, MO. She grew up in Waterloo, IA. After finishing school, she worked as an account executive for the Waterloo Daily Courier. Shortly after, she met Joseph “Joe” McGrane. They were married on November 6, 1976 and welcomed son Matthew several years later.

Joe and Jackie moved to Neenah, WI in January 1980, where they made a home, and were active in the community. Jackie worked at the Kimberly Clark Corporation in quality control and later at the Sweet Pea home boutique, where she was able to use and share her talent in interior design.

Jackie had a vibrant spirit and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved organizing get-togethers with loved ones, and her smile and laughter brought light and joy to any gathering. She dedicated her time to serving her community, volunteering as the co-director of the Community Food Table in Neenah, delivering Meals on Wheels, coaching girls' volleyball, and preparing her signature delicious dinners for the sick and needy. In her free time, Jackie enjoyed gardening and decorating, always working to make her home beautiful inside and out.

Jackie is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Jane Twyman. She is survived by her husband; son, Matthew (Sarah Schellinger) McGrane; sister, Denah Kay Russell; and step-sister, Sharon Faleide; and granddaughter, Clara McGrane.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 on Friday, July 7, 2023 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church at 620 Division St. in Neenah. Visitation will take place at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home on Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 4:00 P.M. until 6:30 P.M., at which time a prayer service will be held. Visitation will continue Friday at church from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service. A luncheon will be served immediately after Mass, with burial to follow at St. Margaret's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Father Carr's Place 2B in Oshkosh or to Vida Medical Clinic and Support Services in Appleton.

When we first moved to Wisconsin and into the house on Congress Street, Jackie and Joe were one of the first people I remember meeting. Her son is around my age and I would often go over to their house (they lived right behind us) to play. She was always so hospitable and welcoming and many of my happiest memories of our time on Congress Street were of spending time at their house. She was a wonderful woman and one of the best of neighbors. My thoughts and prayers are with Joe and Matt and everyone who loved her.

Joe and Matthew, I was stunned and heartbroken when Sharon Fereday stopped me after church and told me Jackie had died. I am so very, very sorry. I can't imagine the shock and pain of your broken hearts. Jackie was one of THE NICEST, funniest and all round wonderful people in my life. I am keeping you all in my heart and prayers. Kathy
