Obituary
Peter G. Morton, age 87, of Neenah, passed away peacefully with family by his side, on Monday, August 21, 2023. He was born on October 22, 1935, in Neenah, WI, son of the late Charles and Kathryn (Schmerein) Morton.
Peter married Darlene Wilkinson on October 31, 1959. He graduated from the UW-Madison School of Pharmacy in 1962 and went to work for his father at Morton Drug Company in downtown Neenah. Peter devoted his career to the Morton family business as second generation owner and operator until his retirement in 2005.
Peter was a passionate pharmacist and advocate for the pharmacy profession. He served as President of the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin (1977-1978) and deeply valued each patient relationship. Peter had the ability to make everyone in his presence feel special, seen and cared for. His love for our community and St. Thomas Church were present in his years of volunteering and his generous heart. Peter loved spending time at the family cottage with his wife, children and grandchildren. He had many hobbies throughout his life and approached all of them with love and compassion. He cherished his many travels, Canada trips, golf adventures, sporting events and animals.
Peter is survived by his children: David (Sherry) Morton, Kathryn (Jeff) Blank, Jennifer (Scott) Stielow; Daughter-in-law, Andrea Morton; 10 grandchildren: Kate (Pete) Springborn, Charles Morton, Allison (David) Preston, Kelsey (Adam) Howard, Peter Morton, Ellie Blank, Jackson Blank, Hailey Stielow, Meghan Stielow, Paige Stielow; 6 great-grandchildren: Harper Springborn, Wrenley Springborn, Eisen Springborn, Willa Preston, Fitz Preston, Piper Howard. Peter was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Morton, oldest son, Stephen Morton, and sister, Barbara Poey.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, September 1, 2023, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 226 Washington St., Menasha, with Fr. Chris Arnold and Fr. Bill Johnston officiating and Fr. Aran Walter assisting. A visitation will be held from 9:00am until the hour of service. Memorials are being established for St. Thomas Episcopal Church and the UW-Madison School of Pharmacy in Peter's name. The Morton family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful caretakers that were part of Peter's care.
