Obituary
Dr. Vernon A. Larsen, Shiocton, age 85 passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023. He was born May 17, 1938 in Ohio. He was raised in Brainerd, MN, son of the late Vernon and Dorothy (Hurley) Larsen. Vern married Mary T. Larsen (Imgrund) in Brainerd, MN in 1958. Together they raised three daughters.
He graduated in 1962 from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. After graduating, they moved to Menasha, WI where he started his dental practice at 59 Racine Street (Riverside Building) and practiced there for 57 years, retiring in 2019. He loved dentistry and all of his patients. Vern belonged to the Wisconsin and American Dental Association and held various positions.
Vern was an avid conservationist and owned and managed the Black Slough Conservation Club. Vern was a sponsor and supporter of Ducks Unlimited, Wisconsin Waterfowl Association and many other organizations. He loved the outdoors, wildlife, and nature most of all. He spent many days doing the things he loved: watching nature, hunting, fishing, and boating.
Survivors include two daughters: Catherine Larsen (Bob Pardo) of Menasha, Anne Larsen of Neenah, two grandchildren Erinn Eisch (David) of Neenah and Shannen Larsen Van Alstine of Appleton and a great grandchild Brynnley Eisch, who he lovingly called Verna.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, his wife Mary T. Larsen, and their daughter Lynn Larsen.
A memorial/ celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 19th, 2023 at Butte des Morts Country Club, 3600 W. Prospect Avenue, Appleton, WI from 4 pm to 8 pm.
