Obituary
Carol E. Wendlandt, age 88 of Neenah, passed away peacefully yet unexpectedly in her apartment on Monday, October 16, 2023. She was born November 12, 1934, to the late Harry and Alice Campbell in Milwaukee, WI. In 1956 she married Floyd Wendlandt and together they raised their family of four children in Muskego, Wisconsin. After Floyd retired, they moved to Mesa, Arizona. Carol and Floyd celebrated 61 years together until Floyd passed away in 2017. In 2021, Carol returned to Wisconsin, to her new home in Neenah at the Highlands Mahler Park apartments.
Carol was a homemaker while the kids were younger, but then enjoyed working jobs as a secretary and office worker at a number of locations including Deluxe Check Printing. She was a devoted member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Muskego Volunteer Fire Department and volunteered countless hours helping the Lutheran Churches she belonged to in both Muskego and Mesa.
Carol was a “crafter” and loved to knit, crochet, and quilt. She made innumerable and beautiful prayer shawls for Church members in need and coordinated the efforts of many others to contribute to this worthy cause. She will be remembered by all for her good-natured laughs, her infectious smile, her willingness to help others and her total recall of details.
Carol will be missed by all who knew her but most by her children: Keith (Sandra) Wendlandt; Kay Johnson; Diane (Mark) Berra; and Dale (Jodi) Wendlandt. Her 8 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren will miss her dearly. Carol is survived by her sister Shirley and brother Tom, and by many nieces and nephews who knew her as a very special Aunt. She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd, her brothers Robert, Donald, and Jerry, and one grandson.
Carol and Floyd will be laid to rest together at a family service next spring at Rural Home Cemetery in the Town of Vernon, WI. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, those who wish, make a donation to the American Cancer Society in her name – as she herself was a cancer survivor.
