Obituary

Melvin A. Nickel age 75 of Neenah passed away Nov 17, 2023 following a courageous battle with cancer. After returning from Vietnam (Army) in 1969, he married his high school sweetheart Sharon Allen and they had three children. Mel was employed at Glatfelter (Bergstrom) Paper Co for 37 yrs. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling the USA, buying his many cars/guitars, cooking/eating, and spending time with family.

He is survived by his wife Sharon; children Sandra (Jim) Meier, David (Lisa) Nickel, daughter-in-law Angela Nickel; grandchildren Alexa & Brooke Meier, Will & Kyra Nickel, Mason Calkins & Paige Nickel; brother Allen (Jamie) Nickel; stepbrother Brian (Shirley) Koehn, Rhinelander; nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends. 

Melvin was preceded in death by son John Nickel; father Gilbert Nickel; mother Marion (Wes) Koehn; sister Nona (Gary) Koehn; dog Sam & cat Buddy.

A private memorial service for the family will be held at a later date.
