SHARON SOPER

Obituary

Sharon Kay Roberts Soper was born on April 10,1937 in San Diego, CA to Cleo (Hobson) and Wendell Roberts. As a child Sharon enjoyed playing outside with her brother Butch, rollerskating, dressing her dog up in doll clothes, and reading. She also loved everything about the ocean, and living just three blocks from the beautiful beach was perfect for her. Sharon attended La Jolla Elementary, Junior High, and Senior High Schools, and graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Social Work.

While Sharon was in college she was introduced to Bill Soper, and in December of 1960 they were married. They raised two children, Cindy and Bill, Jr. and their household always included at least one dog. In 1976 the family moved to Jamestown, ND, where they resided until Bill’s retirement in 1996. While in Jamestown Sharon was active in the Arts Center, the United Presbyterian Church, the YMCA, and was an avid painter.

Sharon and Bill moved to an acreage in Spruce, MI, when Bill retired. There they were active in the Ossineke United Methodist Church and enjoyed the natural beauty of the outdoors, including their trout pond, gardens, and all the animals that often visited them.

Following Bill’s death in 2010, Sharon moved to Neenah, WI, to be closer to family. Sharon is survived by her daughter Cindy (Paul), and son Bill (Ellen). She is further survived by seven grandchildren: Ken (Diane) Huxtable, Nora (Sierra) Huxtable-Parker, Tom (Lauren) Huxtable, Luke (Kat) Soper, Garrett (Kay) Soper, Grant (Sara) Soper, and Natalie (Connor) Todd and ten great-grandchildren: Callan & Madigan Huxtable, Henry & Hattie Huxtable, Lawson, Ruby, & Willa Soper, Edie & Guy Soper, and Cooper Todd. She is further survived by her brother, Butch (Mary), nieces, nephews, friends, and her dog Fritz.

Sharon’s family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the caregivers at Emerald Ridge of Neenah and Compassus Hospice for the care, compassion, and kindness they’ve shown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated to the Neenah Animal Shelter.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
