Obituary

Mark L. Gauthier, age 83, of Neenah, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024. He was born November 8, 1940 , the seventh son of the late Francis and Elsie Gauthier in Keshena, WI on the Menominee Indian Reservation. After high school, Mark enlisted in the Marine Corps and relocated to the Fox Valley after his discharge in 1963. He then worked as a Union Iron Worker until his retirement in 2003. On October 27, 1967, he married Donna Shulfer and the two raised their family in Neenah.

Mark was a passionate fast-pitch softball player who shared his love of the game with his children and grandchildren. He played on many teams including for Jitter's, Oregon Clothing, and Tommy's Angels. He participated in numerous world tournaments and traveled extensively solely surrounding the sport. He coached his sons' baseball teams. One of his greatest joys was traveling to  watch his grandchildren participate in their sports.

Mark never missed a happy hour with his friends, participated in many Packer pools, and enjoyed Wednesday BINGO. He loved a good Friday Fish Fry, and was a member of the Neenah VFW.

Mark is survived by his wife of 56 years, Donna; sons: Brian (Kim); Shayne (Rachael); grandchildren: Brok (Jenna), Shaye, Brie, and Leo; great-grandchildren: Elsie and her sister expected any day. He is further survived by his brother, Art (Sally) Gauthier; as well as many in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was blessed to be a part of a very large family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, LaRona; brothers: Don, Bob, Jim, Francis, Jr. “Bud,” Irv,  Bernard “Vic,” and Dave. He was also preceded in death by many aunts, uncles, and other family members.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at St. Patrick Parish, 324 Nicolet Blvd, Menasha with Fr. Judah Pigon officiating. A visitation will be held at church from 9:00 A.M. until the hour of service.

Mark you are one of a kind, I will miss our talks, our jokes, watching sports, putting money on the boards, and so much more! I was lucky enough to get to know you, and call you my friend! Our deepest sympathies for the Gauthier family, his friends, union brothers and sisters and fellow Marines.  One of the All Time Greatest Uncles.
