HOWARD WALLENE

Howard D. Wallene, age 82 of Neenah, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2016. He was born March 1, 1934 to the late Axel and Carla (Christianson) Wallene in Hibbing, MN, and married Agnes Monte there on September 22, 1956.

Howard graduated from Hibbing High School as a talented athlete excelling in hockey where he led his team to the 1952 state championship and then graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth. As an adult, his gift of gab allowed him to thrive in sales, which, after transferring all over the Midwest, brought him and his family to Neenah. He will always be remembered as a very giving and warm-hearted man, who loved being a grandpa and great-grandpa, and greatly enjoyed yardwork with his John Deere tractor. In his later years, woodworking and yoga were some of his favorite hobbies.

Howard will be missed by his daughters: Terri Lynn (Karl) Brandt, and Wendy (Steve) Pfankuch; and his son, David (Lori) Wallene; his grandchildren: Lynn (Ryan) Lindahl; Kay Brandt; Daniel (Stephanie) Pfankuch; David Pfankuch; Monte Wallene; Raven Wallene; Mika Wallene; and Landon Wallene; as well as his great-grandchildren: Aubrey and Owen Lindahl; and his brother, Marvin (Betty) Wallene. He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes; three sisters; and two brothers.

A memorial service for Howard will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service. Inurnment will be with Agnes at Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Howard's name.
