Obituary

Renate A. Maynard, age 84 of Neenah, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Renate was born on April 12, 1939, in Schweinfurt, Germany to Hans and Anna (Duerrschmidt) Lutsch. Renate grew up in Schweinfurt until her family relocated to rural Herbstadt during WWII. After the war, her family returned to Schweinfurt.

Renate moved to the United States in 1964. She met her future husband Bob on a blind date. They were married on July 10, 1965.

Renate previously worked at a ball bearing factory in Schweinfurt. After moving to the U.S. she worked at Gunderson Cleaners in Menasha until marriage, when she became a homemaker.

Renate enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, and planting flowers. She also liked playing the lottery, especially her scratch offs. She loved visiting with family, friends, and neighbors.

Survivors include two daughters: Kim (Jim) Reagan, Oakdale, MN; and Kelly (Patrick) Calnin, Wild Rose, WI; grandchildren: Brody Calnin (Jaycie Wesphal); Andy (April) Reagan; Alysha Jansma; Alex (Nikki) Reagan; great-grandchildren: Carter, Maliah, Brynlie, Parker, and Jackson; as well as a brother, Erich Lutsch of Schweinfurt, Germany.

In addition to her parents, Renate was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her grandson, Jake Calnin; her sister, Anneliese Laske; her brothers, Dieter and Richard Lutsch; and son-in-law, Lou Buytendorp.

In keeping with Renate's wishes, there will be no services or visitation.

Renate's family would like to extend a warm thank you to the nurses of ThedaCare at Home Hospice for their caring compassion through her final days.

Kim and Kelly. I am deeply sorry for your loss of your mother. I remember good memories of when I would come over to your house. She was a sweet lady. Hugs to you both. Cherish the memories you have.
