Mary Therese (Geenen) Maulick, 93, of Freedom, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at Primrose Memory Care in Appleton on July 9, 2024.
Born in Freedom on January 6, 1931, to the late Joe and Clara Geenen (Coffey), Mary Therese attended St. Mary Springs High School in Fond du Lac and studied at Mount Mary College in Milwaukee.
Mary Therese was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Mike Maulick, on May 17, 1951, sharing 72 years together before his passing on February 19, 2023. Together, they owned and operated Geenen Shopping Center, which included True Value Hardware and SuperValu Grocery.
She was a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Church where she was active in many ways, including the Christian Mothers Society and the funeral choir. She volunteered for 14 years at Appleton Medical Center, was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Kaukauna Elks Club, enjoyed golfing at Fox Valley Golf Club and belonged to numerous bridge groups. She also enjoyed traveling, reading, walking and socializing with friends. She had a special place in her heart for children and especially enjoyed seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Above all, Mary Therese was a dedicated and loving mother and wife who would do anything for her family. She was selfless, willingly sharing whatever she had with others. Her loyalty and friendship were deeply valued by all who knew her.
Mary Therese is survived by her children: Mary Jo (Wyon) Wiegratz, Michael (Elizabeth), Greg (Dar), and Jeff (Tina); grandchildren: Nathan Wiegratz, David (Erin) Wiegratz, Sara (Ryan) Liegel, David and Gregory Maulick, Adam (Melanie) Maulick, Justin (Jessica) Maulick, Tanner (Tayler) Maulick, and Taylor (Nathan) Swanke; great-grandchildren: Lennon, Wells, and Frankie Wiegratz, Rowan and Evan Liegel, Logan, Jada and Aaliyah Maulick, Mallorie and Maesyn Czech, Brooklyn, Corbin, and Winston Maulick, Cora, Lark, Margot Maulick, and Saige Swanke; her brother, Dr. Joseph Geenen, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Diana Maulick, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Aulozzi; her sister-in-law, Nancy Geenen; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jean and Les Hooyman.
The celebration of Mary Therese's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 22nd, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 2037 County Rd. S, Freedom. Visitation will be at St. Nicholas from 9:00 AM until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Alzheimer's Association. Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery.
