Obituary

Victor (Vic) Lawrence Gilbert age 81 passed away Friday August 9, 2024 at Alten Haus Neenah. He was born June 17, 1943 at Theda Clark, son of the late Harold and Martha (Mielke) Gilbert. He married Doris M Collins on September 25, 1965. He was preceded in death by his wife Doris of 56 years, three brothers, a sister and Grandchild Michael Gilbert (Arizona).

After High School Vic served his country as part of the US Navy from 1961 to 1964. After his service he worked much of his life in the paper industry with a few other jobs scattered in between. Followed by joining the Lions Club after retirement. He bounced in and out of many things he enjoyed, fishing, golf, bowling, camping, gardening, deer hunting, a love of country music and his family. On top of all these hobbies he was a dedicated Packer fan, even during the not so good years of the 1980's where his children may have learned some colorful language.

Vic is survived by 3 children Brian (Christiane) Gilbert, Brad (Linda) Gilbert and Stacy (Christian) Mittelstadt. 7 grandchildren Addison (Claire), Delaney, Everett, Bryce, Beau, Nicolas, Jordan. Also 1 Great Grandchild Luna. Vic's family would like to extend a special thank you to staff at both Alten Haus and ST. Croix Hospice for their care, companionship and compassion during his final days with us.

A funeral service will be held at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home, 205 W. Doty Ave, Neenah, WI 54956 at 11:00 AM on Saturday August 17. A visitation will be held at 9:30 AM until the hour of service.

We just drove by your home I. Neenah the other day and were talking about your dad and mom— and remembering your names. Good memories of all of you while at the church in Neenah- and in youth group with us! The years have gone by, you had wonderful parents. Take good care.

Mark and I moved into his neighborhood 22 years ago. when we learned that his wife had to move into assisted living we occasionally visited Doris too. both such wonderful people. It saddened our hearts to hear the news too late to attend the funeral. We send our deepest sympathies. Chris was able to help him out with doctor appointments and Vic was always so appreciative. Loved the fresh asparagus! Will miss the talks and seeing Vic around. Take care.
