JAMES HELTEMES

December 04, 1952 - October 12, 2024

Obituary

James “Jim” C. Heltemes, age 71, formerly of Neenah, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Born on December 4, 1952, to the late Eugene and Dora Heltemes, Jim built a life filled with faith, family, and love.

Jim married Ruth Andrews, and together they shared 52 years of marriage, recently celebrating this milestone with their family. They raised two sons and made many treasured memories.

For half of their marriage, Jim and Ruth made their home in North Prairie, WI, a place they always considered special. Six years ago, they returned to Neenah, and only recently moved to Mukwonago to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Jim will be remembered for his kind heart, quick wit, and deep love for his family. He led by example, modeling strong faith and good humor in all aspects of life. His passion for travel took him across Europe, and he cherished the tradition of biannual sibling trips with Ruth's family, proudly embracing the nickname “outlaw” among the in-laws.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth; his sons, John (Cheyenne) Heltemes and Nick (Katie) Heltemes; and four grandchildren: Parker, Cali, Brody, and Colton. Jim is also survived by his siblings: Kim (Kathy) Heltemes, Julie (Jerry) Maxwell, and Sue Robinson. He will be deeply missed by his in-laws: Chris Andrews; Carolyn (Mory) Handler; Russ (Barb) Andrews; Laurie (Burt) Lindquist; and Amy (Richard) Aylward, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Jeff Robinson and Harry Spetnagel, and a nephew and his wife, Steve and Michelle Andrews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Neenah, with Fr. Bob Kollath officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. Following the service, Jim will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Neenah.
