LAILA KNUUTI

Kenosha – Laila I. Knuuti, 86, of Kenosha, WI, passed away warm and comfortable on December 11, 2024. Born in Rabbit Bay, MI, she was the daughter of a commercial fisherman on Lake Superior. Her work included a paper route in Mason, MI, waitressing at a diner, teaching sewing at Singer, and quality control at Ocean Spray, Kenosha, WI. Laila was married to the late Paul Knuuti for 65 years. He was the love of her life, and she loved his jokes. She cross-stitched “Choose thy Love and Love thy Choice”.

Her hobbies included sewing, making dolls, quilting, knitting, crocheting, painting, cooking, and baking. She also enjoyed golfing, bowling, bike riding, skiing, traveling, and visiting with family and friends. She loved adventure; every morning she would ask “where are we going” or “what are we doing today?”. She was a devoted wife, mother and loved her family and school friends.

Laila is survived by her children: Suzanne (Lawrence) Dickrell, Michael (Suzanne) Knuuti; grandchildren: Natasha Dickrell, Cassandra Dickrell, Nathaniel (Heather) Dickrell, Brianna Knuuti, Michael John Knuuti, Eric Tully; great-grandchildren: Gwendolyn, Allen, Bryce, Braelynn, Kingsley, Luke, Jack; brother Wilmer; many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Beatrice, Joyce, Jane, Raymond, Edwin.

A private family Celebration of Life and burial will be announced in April or May 2025.
