Jim Mellberg was such a lovely gentleman. I met him through Tryon Arts and Crafts School in Tryon. His beautiful hand turned bowls were exceptional. He signed and noted the type of wood used in each one. I was able to purchase a few of his wonderful bowls and will cherish them forever. His personality and skill will be greatly missed.

Jim and I grew up within blocks of one another, graduating from Menasha High School in 1950. As years passed we went in different directions until our 60th class reunion. A last minute request by Joan Lea to attend was granted. Jim had donated 1 of his beautiful wood-turned bowls as the grand prize and who should be the lucky person to receive it-yes, Joan. The rest is history! Whenever they came to Menasha I and my late-husband and later another classmate would meet on Fridays for Wisconsin fish fry night and, of course, reminisce on the good old days spent at MHS plus what has transpired in our lives since then. Jim had previously given me several of his bowls and now my daughter has her name on them for keepsakes. God's blessings to all
