PHYLLIS GOODENOUGH

To the family and friends of Phyllis Goodenough. You don't know who I am, nor do I know you. Many years ago I purchased this book somewhere, an antique store, or other resale venues. It's been a very long time, so I can't remember exactly. Anyway, I remember purchasing it because of its age, and the remarkable condition it was in. After all these years, I decided to open the book today. I had never gotten around to reading it previously. When I opened the book, this is what I saw. It piqued my curiosity as I had never heard of such a beautiful last name, and considering the age of the book, I was interested in who this person was. The first thing that came up in my search, was the obituary for Phyllis Goodenough. I wanted her loved ones to know how touched I was by the story of her life and how just one book that found me made my day when I "met" her through the obituary and holding her well taken care of and loved book. I'll be leaving her stamp on it, so that one day someone else will be able to read about such a remarkable lady. My condolences. Kari

I met Phyllis in 1980, when I started working at Theda Clark in the Admitting Department. Throughout the years, there were many luncheons and Christmas parties, many at Phyllis' house. The "admitting ladies" were a varied group of people that were very supportive of each other. Phyllis will be missed. Rest in peace, Phyllis.

It was a privilege to know Phyllis and to have her as my mother-in-law. She was strong, resilient, and determined...always facing life’s challenges with grace. I will always cherish the time we spent together, from making jam, gardening, to the many conversations filled with her wisdom and wit. She will be deeply missed but forever in our hearts.

I am only reading Phyllis's obituary today. I remember meeting her at one of the Volunteer Breakfasts at the Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass Art and she telling me that she would always bake her chocolate chips cookies when the museum would ask for baked goodies. She was so full of life. This world lost a good lady.

I got to know Phyllis through our shared passion for paperweights and baking.  She was a tireless volunteer and excellent baker, and was a pleasure to know.
