NORMAN WRIGHT

Norman A Wright passed away peacefully, Monday, April 21st, 2025, in Appleton, WI, at age 93, returning to his eternal home surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Antigo, WI, on October 8th, 1931, to Walter and Leda (Beedle) Wright. 

Norman grew up working on different sibling farms. A total of 13 in his family, Norman was the 13th child.  In his younger years, Norman loved playing baseball. In fact, his teammates would always pick him up, insuring him to be at the games as he was the best player and chance to win games.  

Norman served in the U.S. Army from May 4th, 1950, to May 4th, 1953, Sergeant First Class, specifically a Mess Sergeant, during the Korean War. Norman fought on the front lines, being assigned to the 38th parallel at one point. He was awarded multiple medals and a letter of accommodation. Norman was very proud of the time he spent serving his country, always wearing his Korea hat wherever he went. 

After the Army, he worked at Marathon for 10 years, before working at the Neenah Joint School District for 21 years, then a supervisor for the town of Neenah for 19 years. On the side, his true passion, was spent working on Cars, repairing, painting restoring and collecting many throughout the years.  

In 1954, he met the love of his life Ruth, who he married on October 22nd, 1955. They celebrated 69 years of marriage in 2024 and held hands until the end. Their love story was truly one of a kind. There is no doubt he's watching down on her from Heaven.

Norman attended FVTC earning certificates for welding, electrical, engineering, member of the American Legion in Sherwood for 55 years, served on the town of Neenah Fire Department, participated with his family, (in his 80's) 2 5K runs.

Norman's love for his family and friends was unprecedented. He always had a smile on his face that would light up a room. He loved playing his harmonica, especially towards the end as he would play for all the caregivers in his final days.   

Outside of his career path, Norman had a passion for fishing, hunting, casino road trips, trips to Mc Donalds with Ila, Carita, Paul and Lois, celebrating birthdays, and watching sunsets with Ruth always reminiscing all the good memories they shared throughout the years.

Norman is survived by his wife Ruth, daughter Sue Frost (Troy Cronce) grandchildren Kelly (Chad) Myhill, Ryan Denil, Adam (Jen) Frost, great grandchildren Charity (Kruz) Krejcha, Chase Gerard, Aliyah Weyenberg, Emerald Wright, Brynlee Frost, great-great grandchildren Cameron and Oliver Krejcha. Brother -in-law Jim (Sharon) Erdmann, sister -in-laws Shirley Erdmann, Jan Erdmann, ex son-in-law Dan Frost, special person of the family Danielle Weyenberg, along with nieces and nephews.

Norman is preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, siblings, nieces, and nephews.

An evening visitation will be held from 4-7pm on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Westgor Funeral Home, 205 W. Doty Ave, Neenah, WI. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 11:00am, at Greenlawn Memorial Park Chapel, 1451 Green Valley Rd, Neenah, WI 54956, with visitation from 10:00am until the time of service. Interment with full Military Honors will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park with the U.S. Army Military Honor Guard. The family is hosting a luncheon at Bridgewood Resort and Hotel, 1000 Cameron Way, Neenah WI, after services and interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park have concluded.

The family has great appreciation for all the caregivers at Meadowbrook, the hospice nurses, the staff at Compassus and Senior Helpers, specifically Sandy.
