JOYCE SCHOEPEL

Joyce Ann Schoepel was born in Appleton, WI on September 5, 1936 to the late John and Nelda (Spiegelberg) Nelson. At the age of 80 on May 31, 2017 she peacefully passed away at Brewster Village Nursing Home.

On October 5, 1957 she married Louis W. Schoepel in Neenah, Wisconsin.  Joyce was blessed with 56 years of marriage before Louis passed away in 2014.  Joyce was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton, a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of America (serving as vice president for the Appleton chapter from 1978-1980), and a volunteer at the Menasha Public Library (appointed to the Winnebago County Library Board in 1998).  When not spending time with the family, Joyce enjoyed playing the piano, reading, the outdoors, playing scrabble, card nights with friends, and crafting.

Joyce will be sadly missed by her five surviving children: Dave (April) Schoepel of Neenah, WI; Karen (David) Perry of Monongahela, PA; Michael (Carry) Schoepel of Appleton, WI; Steve Schoepel of Fitchburg, WI, and Alexandra Elle Schoepel (Marci Norkin-Schoepel) of Templeton, CA; grandchildren: Justin Perry (fiancée Nicole Wilson); Margaret (Joe) Lamphear; Abigail Schoepel; John Schoepel; and Dryden Schoepel.  Joyce is survived by her sister, Sharon Quade, Camas, WA.  

The Memorial Service for Joyce will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. in the Star of Hope Chapel at Highland Memorial Park (3131 N. Richmond St., Appleton) with Rev. Brian Bankert officiating.  Friends will be received in the chapel on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service.  She will be laid to rest in the mausoleum.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joyce's name may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, Appleton, WI or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
